There is something special about going to a place like Yellowknife. Everything just seems so honest and real. The people are super friendly and almost seem eager to talk to strangers, it's like we are messengers from the outside bringing our stories from the busy land.
Here is a photo of me hanging with Mayor Gordon, we shared a beer and I learned about mosquitos, public policy and how to reel in large fish. I quickly became buddies with Paul McMullen from Mix 100 radio and set out on world wind tour of theYellowknife night spots to see the bands playing in the Warm up the Rocks events. Not only was Paul being the consumate ambassador, he was also dragging out the band members from SWANK. These are 5 wild tornadoes from Vancouver that are as possesed on stage as they are off the stage. A great group of guys that you should travel to the ends of the earth to see live, it will be show you will always remember.
A VERY CANADIAN MOMENT
Have you ever been in a situation that required quick thinking and the reliability of duct tape?
There I was on stage introducing the band T. Nile when the wind came along and blew over Tamara's banjo; snapping off the head. Ouch. There wasn't a replacement banjo anywhere so we jumped into action and taped it back together. Tamara and the band were the consumate pros and put on an amazing show.
It felt kinda nice being able to help out with more than just the beer at a Folk Festival. Congratulations to Lynn and Sarah and the rest of the Folk on the Rocks team, you put on a great show!
Notice to all bands, I'm a bit of a duct tape hero, call me if you need anything.
You must be of legal drinking age to enter the brewery.
I'm of legal drinking age in my province/state.

It was fantastic meeting the two of you and I hope the rest of the festivals are just as fun.

I heard you guys rocked the Big Rock beer garden stage on Sunday too! Hope you made it safely to Vancouver, I'll try to check out the show when you come through Calgary.

Dude. We both know who the real duct tape hero was. But I couldn't have done it without your help. Hope you had a good time, come back next year.

Ah yes this was an amazing memory from the fest. I was frantically trying to track down a banjo while you and Allan had things well in hand, backstage. It's these kinds of moments that give Folk On The Rocks a cuddly family feeling and it was great to be back for it this year. Three cheers for the wonders of duct tape.

Al, it's like we were on M*A*S*H and you were Dr. Red Green. That will be one of the best memories of the trip. Watching the chaos going on and deciding that the only solution was duct tape. It's always duct tape.
Glad you sent this post as I never got your name. Thanks for being an awesome host! Hope I can make it up again next year.
