This weekend should be sunny and warm – so try to get outside and enjoy a few beers. While I watch hockey and get started on some of my yard work I plan to kick back with a few Pale Ale and some chicken wings. (There’s a good chance I will also enjoy a Grasshopper or two now that I can enjoy being outdoors.)
There are many subtleties to different beers that you won’t want to miss out on. I think tasting beer should be an experience - and an enjoyable one at that. That is why I do what I do every day – so you can enjoy the true flavour of each of our beers.
Observe the brew’s tones and hues. Every one of our beers has a distinct colour.
Swirl your glass (gently) and unlock the aromas. (As much as 95 per cent of tasting is experienced through the olfactory system i.e. Your nose.)
Take a couple of short, quick sniffs and then inhale through your mouth only. Try to identify any hints, and enjoy the bouquet. What did you taste?
And, then the part we all enjoy: sip the beer. Don’t be quick to swallow, allow your palate time to react to the mouth feel, or texture of the brew.
Really, all I am saying is take the time to enjoy your next beer.
I hope enjoy your weekend!
You must be of legal drinking age to enter the brewery.
